I just bought a 60 Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 9 for $29.00 after rebate at Fry’s wooohoo!!

Anyway, I tried to use norton ghost to Clone my current main system hard drive over to the Maxtor and it failed after 87%.

Here is my question. Follow me now…if I make a ghost image of my existing drive over on my slave, then load WinXp onto the new drive, can I then just load norton onto the new drive, use the “Restore my computer from a ghost image” and not have to load all the programs and updates all over again?

Is there another way without having to reinstall all the programs and download all the updates all over again?

You are nearly right.

1. Download from Maxtor their MAXBlast utility and test the drive. It sounds as if there are issues with the drive itself.

2. Read Radified's Guide:

Thanks for the link. I ran Maxblast and the disk seems fine.
The Ghost website had some good info, except I didn't see a specific area about reinstalling, only getting your existing setup back to the last time you ghost imaged the hard drive.

What did you mean by you are nearly right?
