I'm using Win98 SE with MSIE and MSOE 5. Both are severely corrupt and cannot be repaired. I haven't used either for weeks because neither will open without errors. I'm able to use other browsers however, with frequent error messages. Since I'm unable to repair, delete or update to a later version.

I need to remove the corrupt portion of Win98 SE without sacraficing related programs. I don't have backup copies for the progrms purchased online. I have quite a few and these programs cannot be copied or reused after they have been expanded.

How can remove the corrupt portion of Windows without reformatting the hard drive or losing other software programs?

I know this can be done but have forgotten where I obtained the information. Can anyone help me?

start. setting, add software, windows setup, disable items for setup, and run.
add it back the same way on next boot.
Or you could do an overlay SE install, which will rewrite 98 without overwriting the programs and hopefully not causing any corruption. Ed Fair
