Long story, very simplified.

We were on SUS 1.0 w/SP1. Moved to the beta copy of the SUS 2.0. Clients updated. Had to move back to 1.0. Most clients are not talking to the SUS server now.

Reading various logs, I beleive the client is the issue, 10% of our machines are still reporting to the SUS server. I understand that the old clients will automatically update to the a newer client when they see the newer SUS. Also, the newer client is supposed to be backwardly compatible to the old version of SUS.

Now, I would like to reinstall the client, but not sure how to pull this off yet. Simply deleting the folder c:\program files\windows update did not do do it. I don't see any obvious registry entries other than the ones that points it to the SUS server.

Any suggestions?

You should be able to push the SUS client out via the Group Policies as detailed in the White Papers on the MS website.
