Refresh From Server

This should be a really simple question to answer - but I can't see any obvious solution:

I've got a link on a page. I know that the page I'm linking to has been updated since the person last visited, and so should be reloaded from the server, however when the person presses on the link they get the cached version (depending upon their browser's settings.

I can't use the <meta http-equiv=&quot;expires&quot; content=&quot;date&quot;> on the target page - as when the page is written I don't know when I'm going to upadate it.

I just can't see any way to trigger a refresh from the server.

Any ideas?

Just set the meta refresh date to a date that has already passed.
This will force server reconnect on every load, and you will never
have to change the date.

Ah - that's the crux - I don't want to keep refreshing the page on every visit (bad for bandwidth or I could have <META HTTP-EQUIV=&quot;Pragma&quot; CONTENT=&quot;no-cache&quot;> for NS - ignored by IE). I want to force a refresh when I know it's changed and let the browser do what it likes the rest of the time.

Any ideas?
