I have successfully backed up my tx log.

I have successfully shrunk my tx log. It is now taking up .20 mb of space.

Now I want to reduce the amount of space allocated to the tx log, which for some reason is set at 250 mb. Yikes!

The only adjustment SQL server is allowing me to make is to increase the amount of space allocated.

I am running SQL Server 2000. I am trying to make this adjustment through Enterprise Manager through the properties dialogue box for the tx log.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance,

Cathy

use the dbcc shrinkfile() statement.

syntaxt is
Code:
DBCC SHRINKFILE (FileName, target size)

the file name is the logical not physical file name and target size is specified in megabytes.
