After setting up folder recirection and killing the offline files settings (so no automatic settings) the users that have laptops have an experience where if they do anythign that queries their "Home" or the "MY DOcuments" directory it looks for their network share which takes 30 - 60 seconds to time out first before finally crashing ans saying, "domain controller not available, do you want to save elsewhere" or sometimes if just stops responding..

we have change the GP to revert their my docs directory BACK to the local place, but somehow its still trying the H:\ drive first?

Any idea? We are running a single domain controler with windows 2003 SP1...

Cheers

I take it you mean that this happens even when connected to the network??? The problem looks like your client PC's dont know where to look for the DC to validate their logons. Check your WINS and/or DNS settings.

actually no dramas when running on the network, but the moment the DFS share goes offline( either the laptop loeaves the office or the server is rebooted), (DFS with the homes, profiles etc) the entire laptop or users profiles basically grind to a halt, waiting for teh H:\ drives or whatever it is to come back..

what ever have i done? upon the h:\ drive redirection to the local user profile, im still gettng this!!! ARRGH
