Ok, this is a really stupid question to ask....... I know where to do it... but how do I implement it is the question. I need to move a website to another machine (called web1) Currently it's is on machine (called b1). When I move the site to the new machine I do NOT want anyone to reference B1 server via Is there a way to do the following:
1)have all requests that hit to go to a completely different site via redirection, secondly.... when live in the internet the site goes to When I set up the redirector feature will it reference the redireted site?

Please advise.

(told you guys this was a stupid question)

thanks

Internally, as you are saying is easy to solve it. Just a redirect (to machine web1) in the default webpage from the web server b1.
For external access, this depends on how you deisgned your DNSesand your internet access. I suppose that users are using NAT (or more restricive a proxy). Then, if your webserver is not in a DMZ then there should be a mapping in the NAT (or proxy) that will say: http requests to address {publicIP_1} will be redirected to {privateIP_web1} (this redirection is part of the options that you should have in your NAT, or proxy software).

I agree with Gia,

I am using MS Proxy 2, and here is what I did:

On Web Proxy Properties click on Publishing Tab

Select "Enable Web Publishing"

Click on sent to the local web server

on the "Except to the listed below:" list
add your "external" URL and "redirection" URL and its done!!!
