We would like to redirect certain web sites to point to an internal web server. We would like certain sites in other words to be directed to our internal web server.

We are using W2k Sp2 running DNS server.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Which websites do you want to direct? Are you talking say for example redirecting to a internal website or redirecting webmail.internetdomainname.com to your internal website?

Ash.

Yes, exactly. We want to re-direct an inappropiate site to an internal site.

If you are talking about doing this with a couple of sites you could do it with your DNS server - but you would need to create a domain and then point the host to your internal server. I don't this is a very good solution and isn't really feasble with lots of sites.

Another way would be to send a new HOSTS. file out to the clients

ie.
google.co.uk 192.168.0.1
hardcorep0rnsite 192.168.0.1

Again not a good idea if we are talking about lots of sites.

The best way is to use a filtering proxy - for example Linux SquidGuard. As for windows filterting proxy software - I haven't got any recommedations.

Ash.
