Redhat NIC issues

My redhat 9 box is dropping off the network often and on the console is the message "eth0: PCI bus error, bus status 80000020"
 
Could be:
1) Bad wire,
2) Bad NIC,
3) IRQ conflict if you've got a lot of PCI devs in place
4) Bad port/hub

Try replacing elements of the equation and see if things stabilize.

are you using a redhat supported card? if there's one thing i have learned, using redhat-stated supported devices makes a big difference.


check this link, and if you have to switch to one of the listed ethernet cards, by all means do so and save the headaches.
