Has anyone experienced this in Windows 2000 while trying to delete any file(s)?

The message comes back saying "Cannot delete <<filename>>: Cannot find the specified path. Make sure you specify the correct path."

It appears to be something with the Recycle Bin because if you hold down the 'Shift' key when deleting, the file gets deleted successfully.

Also, this Windows 2000 install is FAT32. I do not see a \RECYCLER or \RECYCLED directory.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm experiencing same problem as this user described. Recently, implemented AVG anit-virus was able to remove various virus files. After deleting a trojan virus file, it shows up in the recycler file. When I go into DOS to pull up the above file, I get the same message as this user described. Any suggestions, ie, in removing this file?

The Recycler is on your C: drive on the root. To see it you have to turn off hide hidden files and protected OS files. You may need to take ownership of the file before it lets you delete it.

How do I turn off the hide files of the Recycler? There is never any of the files I delete there and I do not have checked to delete without moving to the Recycle Bin.

Thanks,

In Windows Explorer (the main way I do this), go into the Tools Menu, and click on Folder Options. Then, click on the view tab. In there you'll find "Hidden Files" Change the bullet to Show Hidden files. about 2 options below that is "Hie Protected Operating System Files (Recommended)". Take the check out of that. Then, click Apply and OK. You should now, be able to see the \Recycled or \Recycler folder, and you should be able to see all of your hidden files.

While you're in there, I recommend taking the check out of the Hide File Extentions for known file types also. This way, if you get a file that has a double extention, you'll see it in Windows Explorer.. (Ex. mydoc.doc.exe)

Hope this helps you a bit.
Patrick.

You're the man! I have not been able to use the Recycle Bin for over a year. Now when I go there after deleting files; there they are.

Thanks Buddy!
