Recurring email undeliverable SPAMMED 1

Hi,
I use Outlook Express 97 & Win 98 and lately have a problem. Every day when I check email, I get loads of Mailer-Daemon undeliverable emails. These emails all contain spam and I did NOT send them. They do not appear in my SENT ITEMS folder. I have a cable modem and leave the computer on all the time.

I ran Norton and PC-Cillan virus checker on every file and no viruses are found. I changed my email password and the emails are still coming. I thought this might be Klez, but ran the test for it and it's not found.

Any ideas as to how someone is using my email account ?

Hi.
IMHO sounds like someone may be spoofing your address in the "From" field.
I'm in the process of dealing with a similar situation with a domain that friends and I own.
Try the guide at

as a starting point.
Also useful "Sam Spade" freeware tool, and the many anti-spam newsgroups / forums which can be found via a Google search.

Howdy:

It is Klez but you aren't the one infected.. If you go to the Symantec website and search Klez, it will explain how Klez spoofs your email address..

Basically, another system that has your addy in their contact list is infected. Klez then puts your name into the "From" field and tries to send itself to someone else in the infected systems contact list.

If the mail cannot be delivered, guess who gets the "undeliverable" message - Yep, you do.

Until the infected system is found and cleaned, you are going to get a pile of these so be prepared.
