RECOVERY folder

Hi,

There is a folder "RECOVERY" In my DELL PC (Vista). I guess that is for system recovery.

Now, for some reason, I installed another Vista system in the same PC but the installing didn't create another "RECOVERY" folder.

My question are:
where those recovery files will be for the new Vista system and how to let those files goto a desired folder?

Are you dual booting two versions of Vista? If so was the first pre-installed and the latest installed via a retail DVD?

"Recovery" is not a name of any folder I recognize in my non-Dell Systems. Is it on a separate partition from any of the Vista installs?

Have you tried showing both Hidden and System files via Folder Options/ View in the Control Panel?

Have a look at Vista's Startup Repair.

Yes, two Vista systems are in the same PC and are "dual booting".

The first Vista and "RECOVERY" installed by DELL while the second Vista installed by me in a new patition but without the "RECOVERY", via the CD comes together with the PC.

"RECOVERY" is the name of drive D: (partition?). I remember someone told me that is only for DELL pc.

Now I am thinking remove the first Vista system and the whole "RECOVERY" drive. I want to make sure there is some "RECOVERY" folder in the second Vista system.

The files in any Recovery Partition, are usually used just to restore your system to how it was when it left the "factory", and as it wasn't a dual boot system then, adding other operating systems, will not add other recovery folders or partitions.

What you are proposing may be a bit risky, if your Recovery Partition is also responsible for booting both versions of Vista, even if it is not used for booting, without a Recovery Partition you may not be able to perform any other recovery options.
