Recovering 2nd HD from a spanned disk

I have two HDs in a computer. I created dynamic disk and spanned the two drives. I later found it couldn't work because on being the system drive. I later formated and of course deleted the OS from the first HD. I reinstalled Win2000 on it and attempted to access the 2nd HD. I can not gain access. It unreadable. How do I gain access to that HD so I can reformat it to use for an additional volume?
