In short: old PM3334UW controller with 3 9.1 Gb disks in RAID 5. All disks fail at once (!!!!) after five years with few troubles. The DPT manager program does shows red flags everywhere, and does not offer a rebuild option. Suspecting of a problem in the disk case failure we unplugged the SCSI discs one by one trying to get to a degraded state, thus isolating the faulty tray, to no avail.

Assuming the data is still there, is there any way (and hope) to makie a new array without deleting (or touching it in the least possible) the existent data, whatever it is?

Thanks a lot for all and any help.

Depending on the BIOS of the card you may be able to "fake out the card". Some of the DPT cards have hidden options such as "make optimal". I think its alt+f10+o, then you highlight each drive, and its on one of the menus.

There is also a "no build" option, but I can't remember how to do it. Check adaptec's site.
