i need a good book to study for the network+ exam, and i'm looking for recommendtions on books. i've downloaded the objectives from the comptia web site, but all the books i've looked thought don't seem to cover all of the objectives.

thank you
chris
ccna

You have CCNA and you want Net+? That seems backwards....

I recommend the All-in-One Network+ Certification Exam Guide by Mike Meyers.

However, a better book for those with networking experience, get the Upgrading and Repairing Networks book published by Que. Very detailed and a good reference tool.

the reason i want a netwok+ cert is that ccna is cisco directed, and i think it would look good to have a "industry" standard cert.

LOL, I getting ready to write the Net+ exam with a "final" goal of getting CCNA or MCSE (or MCSA, haven't figured out the difference yet).

the ccna is a nice starting point for cisco (in fact you need to get this cert to get any higher ones from cisco). but like the mcse there are so many ccna's out there now. it almost means nothing now. you need to move to higher levels (ccnp, ccda, ccdp). thats one reason why i want the network+ cert.

Hmm, and here I thought the MCSE was the top level for Microsoft networking. Guess I need to do better research.

I haven't really considered any Cisco certification because it really depends on where you plan to work. Having a Cisco cert and trying to get a job in a Microsoft network probably doesn't help much (and vice versa).

but having both certs will just make you look better. anyway most network support people work on both sides of the network (the network it self (where cisco helps), and the user side (where microsoft helps)). so that just make you worth more to a company.

at least thats the way i look at it. i do plan on getting the mcse in the next year. right after i finsh a couple of other certs i'm currently working on.
