Recipient Update service - Properties - W2K Domain controller 1

In ESM, Recipient Update service - Properties - W2K Domain controller, it currently points to a domain controller we are going to retire.

I obvoiusly need to point this to another DC.

Is there any specific type of DC it needs to point to, eg Global Catalog server etc ?

Am I better of doing it manually or will the DCPROMO down to a member server automatically redirect to a suitable DC ?

Yes, you do have to make the change manually. No, it doesn't matter whether or not the DC is a GC.
