I would like to build/program some buttons for the reception phone to help her in case of different emergency situations.
We have one for calling 911 and one for calling building security but we would like to setup three more.
1. Page a pre-recorded message overhead.
2. Open the speakerphone on all desktops so they can hear what is happening at reception, the caveat is we want to mute her speakerphone speaker, otherwise there is a ton of people saying hello, hello....
3. Call a group of people, our security responders on the floor, same caveat, mute the speakerphone speaker so no one is tipping off the person reception is "handling".

Can anyone tell me if this is possible and any tips would be much appreciated.
Avaya IP Office 8.1

Thanks,

Mike

I am always hesitant to program a 911 button, as it is just TOO easy to create a false alarm.
If you have voicemail pro, you can page a pre-recorded message.
Create a page group and put on a button to page. Paging is always one-way, so no risk of staff talking back
IP Office is very flexible, but if there is that much risk in the reception job, I would HIGHLY recommend that you get a solution that is built for these tasks. Life safety is no place to be making rigs.

Thanks! It's a medium sized law firm, not really risky but we want to be prepared in case of worst case.... Our best response would be internally and my hope is that by paging a message (just a retired attorneys name) that all employees know then everyone knows to stay away except for our "security" personnel.

We do have VMPro and I will look at that option.

Thanks again,

Mike

Here you go, a complete setup that I made a while ago.

Module
Config

It presents a text string on the phones, so you can present a silent message along with the "Uncle Donald to the Copy room" announcement.

The initial post is here if you want to read up on the subject: thread940-1736407: Internal Office Help Required Alert

NB: It does not work in the latest VMPro release (SP10), so stay at R8.1.85 or lower.

Kind regards

Gunnar
