I have Windows NT loaded with service pack 5 installed.
I have a Linksys network card installed.
My Protocols are:
Netbeui Protocols
NWLink IPX/SPX Compatible
NWLink Netbios
TCP/IP Protocols installed
....My TCP/IP settings: IP Address 10.25.121.0 and Subnet Mask 255.0.0.0

When I load SQL Server...It writes the master database, it sets up the Service Manager....then it tries to connect. I receive a message from sql server that 'the service could not be started. Please check the event log to determine cause 1058.

When I look at the event log 1058 it defines that the network card could not communicate to the devise it was connected to. The only devise the PC is connected to is the Hub. I removed TCP/IP and installed MSLoopback Adapter...that didn't work and received the same message. Right now the computer is running NT and isn't connected to any other computer or hub.

Why am I getting that message.
