I recently upgraded my PC, buying an AMD64 3500+ processor on a MSI K8N NEO4 F motherboard, and 2x512gb ram.

Unfortunately I managed to wreck my gfxcard when installing it, but i have borrowed a crappy old S3 PCI card.

The problem now is that when i try to load windows, the computer restarts after a few seconds. This happens even if i try to load in safe mode, or just with the command line.

I can enter the BIOS without any problems.

Any tips on what to check?

What do you mean by load windows? reinstall?

Obviously after major surgery like this your operating system is best clean installed as the system will find it hard or impossible to boot from an old configuration.

More details please.

Be suspect of the new RAM too.

Usually when I have reboot issues, it's RAM related. Try just one stick at a time to see if the problem goes away.

Reinstalling XP solved the problem.
