Reassigning Printers

I have 4 HP Printers (various models) that are setup on my current PDC. When I've created and assigned a new user I have given them a printer by browsing Network Neighborhood, selecting my PDC, then do a 'Right Click / Install' on the printer I want them to have. Therefore they are pointing to a printer share \\PDC\HP5000.

Now, I'm trying to migrate to a newer, better PDC and when I transfer the user accounts, etc. What is the best/simplest way to reassing the printer share without having to manually do it as each user is logged in?

If you are migrating everything to a new PDC(usernames, rights, shares, etc.), as long as the data is the same, the simplest was is to make the new pdc identical to the old one. Use the same name, ip address, and printer share names. I'm pretty sure that should work.

Unfortunatley I'm beyond that point. The new server is safely and securely setup without glitches and I'd like to not go through the process again.

There's nothing you can do other than re-assigning on each PC the new printer. You can try (in Batch) to use the "start \\servername\printername" command...but that will not make a default printer assignment. It sounds like you have a small network, so time is $$$....get paid my brother....
"Start \\servername\printername" will map a network printer, but not do what you want. You need to script the change to be 100% transparent..and that is beyond the scope of this forum..
