I haven't had to deal with DNS issues often so I don't know much about it yet, but here it goes. I've been having many email problems here, and I think it might have something to do with DNS, but I'm not sure. The Queue folder on our relay machine, that actually sends the emails, is always filling up with emails, and I KNOW its not supposed to. I have emails in there, whether they are legit or not, that have been in there for a few days now. Workers here are getting "delayed" messages back when they send emails sometimes, and its really starting to frusterate me mainly because I don't know what the problem is. Would this problem possibly have anything to do with my lack of DNS configuration? reverse DNS? Anything can help...

What email system are you running? Are we talking external email coming in and going out? Does email get deliver internally? Does any email get through?

Exchange 2003, and yes we're talking about ALL email, whether it be incoming or outgoing. And yes most email gets through, but like I said, some random emails, some SPAM and some legit, get stuck in the queue.

Hi!
You have a relay server which gets all the incoming mail and the outgoing mail is not traversing the relay server?
If the above asumption is correct - check the mail connectivity from outsde to the relay server and if you get the correct response - the relay server takes the message without complaint, do the same test from the relay server to the internal exchange server. Use only IP addresses for these tests and console telnet session on port 25.
