For those that have deployed both or are very familiar with all the various ways the 96xx series phones from Avaya can connect to the phone server, can you please explain to me what the REAL, practical benefits are of using the 96xx series phones as SIP phones vs. using them as H.323 phones? And vice versa...benefits of using H.323 instead of SIP. So far I'm thinking H.323 would be more simple to configure.
Please note all your own thoughts on this subject, but a few things I'm interested in your opinion on when it comes to SIP 96xx series phones vs. H.323 96xx series phones are...
- Survivability?
- Ease of installation/configuration/ongoing maintenance?
- Telephony feature availability?
- Investment protection...having something that works well, upgrades well for the 'long haul' (several years down the road, using the same phones rather than having to swap out phones due to them being ('outdated', won't work on new servers, etc)
Thanks for your help!
