Real beginner needs guidance 4

In a few weeks I am taking a C Programming class (my first programming class ever).
Just to get an idea of what I am going to learn I purchased a C For Dummies book.
I understand that I will need a compiler.
Can someone guide me?
What shoud I get? I have no idea.

Depending on who's organising the course, you may get supplied with some sort of recommended compiler. I'd find out before going to huge trouble (or expense) myself.
