I have burnt a data CD-R and now want to use the CD-R (data) on a pc that has a standard CD ROM drive. Can not read the data. Is there any free software you can install to allow the CD-R to be read?
do you know what the character set, and the file set length is? did you use nero? since if you have nero, go to new compilation, and go to iso, and see the warnings they have. i think that might be the case since cd-r's should be compatible with almost every drive (unless its really really old)
Does the non-cd-r PC recognise the disk and just not read it or does it not even know it is there?
Ensure you have closed the session when writing to the disk.
Some of the older, but not necessarily ancient drives do have problems reading cd-r.
Try writing on Kodak Gold or another premium media. This may help.
