I'm trying to read a value into a variable or assign a value to a textbox from a table or query. I'm totally lost here. How do you run a query in VBA and assign a value to a variable (global for example) or how do I read a value directly from a table that is different from the one I've got related to the form.

Look at the DLookup() function.

It can be used as a controlsource for an unbound control or can be used in a VBA assignmnmenet statement.

You can use the DLookup() function to get a value from a different table.
