Read Pix Syslog with Ciscoworks 2000 without Management Center for Pix

Can anyone tell me of a way to view the pix syslog with ciscoworks 2000 without the management Center for Pix Firewalls?

We want to be able to see what is going on with our firewall to be able to troubleshoot. Right now we are doing no troubleshooting......

You should be able to view the syslog as long as your are logging to the CiscoWorks Server. Ill have to check on my CiscoWorks Server when I get a chance but if you go to the Device you should have a link to view the logs.

What do I need to have set up on my pix? on my ciscoworks box? Should ciscoworks automatically discover the pix? Do I have to manually add it? Where do I do both?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok. What version of Cisco Works do you have? Have you installed it yet? You will need to set up SNMP on the Pix and also logging to the Ciscoworks server.

logging on
logging timestamp
logging trap informational
logging host inside xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx <-- IP of logging Server

snmp-server community public <-- Your community String
snmp-server host inside xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx poll

Thanks for your help. We are running Ciscoworks 2000 and pix 5153 on PDM 3.0 and IOS 6.31.

I will try what you suggested. Also how do I check to see that I have ciscoworks SNMS. Does this come with?

OK I have Ciscoworks 2000 with the Cisco Pix Firewall Device Package installed. Am I supposed to see something for the pix when i log in? WHere.

Yes it should have been included in your install of Ciscoworks.
