Is there anyway to save your netowrk printer settings such that if you lose them you can do an automatic re-instal of them?

I am fed up re-creating them when something goes wrong with my profile and I have tostart with a blank profile when I knwo all the drivers etc are on the laptop..

Anyone any idea's?

All the drivers are still there. If you are using network printers all you have to do is add you printers again... 2-3 minutes tops

What keeps happening to your profile ?

Not quite so Shady... :)

I use about a 15 or 16 different network printers. Re-adding them all is a pain as network browsing is disabled ( stupid I know but it is) by default so re-adding means rekeying server name and printer name. I can never remember all of the printers and servers ( all in different offices/locations ).
Reason it keeps happening is roaming profiles are enabled for most users except laptop users but on a monthly basis someone screws things up and lo and behold profiles appear for laptop users which cause headaches due to profile restrictions. So what happens is the profiles are removed and the techies can only ever put back a new 'empty' local profile ..and as a result you lose all of your settings for things like mapped drives , MS Office default settings - some of it you can get back but when they copy some stuff over lo and behold the roaming profile appears ..and you have to start all over again.

I know they should be able to just turn off the roaming profile and leave all the other settings but these guys are so incompetent they don't know how to ( or the environment is so complicated they can't).

Not easy huh?

Gking... you might try this...

There is an utility from Microsoft (free!) that will allow you to export the settings from one server and import them to another server -- identical settings -- it even copies the drivers and packages everything in one CAB file... Here is the link: It's called Print Migrator 3.0.

Might work for desktops and laptops also.
