Hi all, I work in a company with about 20 users. I recently installed exchange 2000 enterprise server, and everything have been working fine.
But lately I discovered that the partion (volume, c:) I installed it on is running out of space. I have much more space on the server but not on the installation partion. I am running a server with raid 1 + 5 where the pub and priv are located on the raid 5.

I need to re-installe my exchange but at the same time keep my databases (mailboxes) for adding them back later. Is it possible to just un-install the exchange server and install it again and add the priv an pub database files...or do I have to set up a new server and move all the mailboxes to the new server and then re-install the old one...???

Can anybody help me out here. I need to do this asap.

Most sincerely

Reinstalling seems a bit drastic.

What is taking up the space on the C drive?

If it is the Exchange transaction logs, then run a full backup of the system including Exchange, then it will flush the logs.

hope this helps

The problem is that I sort of forgot to intstall sp2 or sp3, and we use something called symantec filtering. I recently found out that symantec filtering only support exchange 2000 with sp1 or later install.
So I downloaded sp3 for exchange 2000 server and tryed to install it.
It turned out that on this partition it was not enought free space to install the service pack.

I have my transaction logs on a bigger partition in raid 1 and the the databases for mailboxes and public folders on raid 5.

That is why I want to re-install exchange to a bigger partition on the raid 1 volume. But keep all the mailboxes etc, so the users will not be affected by my actions. You understand.
At this moment I am setting up a test pc with exchange 2000. I will try to copy the pub1 and priv1 to this machine and see if it work. If it doesnt I will try to sett up the test-machine in the same organization ass the original and move all the mailboxes over to the test. Re-install the original server and move back the mailboxes.

What do you thing about that...??? any sugestions.
