RDP within a workgroup

I have two Win XP machines within a workgroup. One is a desktop and the other is a laptop.

Whenever I try to set up RDP from My Computer/Remote, it does not see the workgroup and therefore I cannot add the usernames I log into my laptop to be able to RDP.

Is there any way around this?

Forget about the Workgroup, for RDP its irrelevant. You have to create the actual user, from within the user manager.

There needs to be a local profile for it to work.

so go into Control Panel-> Users, and add the user.

you'll then be able to select the user to allow it to RDP.

Do you mean the 'The domain/workgroup does not contain any Terminal servers' error when you select the 'Browse' option?

If so then just use the computername (if the remote PC is in the same workgroup) or the IP address (if the remote PC isn't in the same workgroup) to connect instead.

Unless its a Domain, it won't happend, as workgroups don;t share user details by default.

the user has to be created in the PC to which he wants to Remote into.
