Hi all,

First time post.

I have a strange problem when trying to RDP to another Windows 7 workstation or Windows 2008 server. I get the following message after I enter my login details:

"An authentication error has ocurred. The requested security package does not exist".

I can RDP just fine with XP etc and not everyone has this issue when using Windows 7.

I can RDP fine to XP machines and Windows 2003. Just not Windows 7 or Server 2008.

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks,

B0nk3r5

Sorry I should have said in my original post that it is 7 Ultimate.

Thanks

Google is your friend (well maybe not)

rdp from xp to windows 7

Thanks for the reply.

My issue is RDP'ing from Windows 7 to Windows 7 or Server 2008.

I have searched Google before I registered here.

Thanks

My colleagues can do it ok and I can do it from my other Windows 7 machine (at home). Jut want to know if anyone has seen this issue themselves and know how to fix it. I dont really want to use xp just for this.

Thanks

Are there different firewalls used on the different PCs? Have you checked to make 100% sure that RDP is enabled on both the host and the client PC in this case? If anything it sounds like the host is okay, but it's something on your client PC.

Another thing to look at is out of date Video drivers as this XP post mentions.

No firewalls on the PC's, RDP services definitly running. It does sound like a client issue like you have suggested as my colleagues are ok.

Thanks

Thats an idea I havent looked that. I will update the vid drivers tomorrow to see if it helps. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm glad you mentioned that, linney. I have seen a couple posts in various forums where the grphics driver was the culprit.

Mentioned in the sense that it has worked for some but not for all, it is just one thing (of many) that can be looked at, nothing more. Here's hoping though.

I updated my Vid drivers this morning to no avail. I may need to bite the bullet and do a software rebuild..

Rebuilt my Machine RDP now working as should. Thanks for all your suggestions guys.
