RAW file system disk when moving drives.

well, you are not the only one that are having this Problem. I have done the same as you, and now have a disk that is RAW.
I think that it can be resolved with the latest service pack. I have had this problem before, but this time I am crying. All my SP's are laying on this disk, and I do not have internet at home for the time being.
Ahhh, well.
We just have to hope that there is someone out there with a good solution for this

This is exactly the same problem that I am having which is referenced in this thread: thread751-883655.
There is one reply to my original post with a workaround, but it's quite intensive and requires:
1) moving the "RAW" drive back to the original machine
2) copy its data to another drive in the original machine (assuming you have one large enough to hold the entire drive's contents)
3) move the "RAW" drive back to the new machine
4) reformat "RAW" drive on new machine
5) copy data from second drive on old machine via network or some sort of copying program (LapLink, PC Anywhere) to newly formatted drive in new machine
My situation is most interesting as I moved three drives to a new machine. Two ended up being categorized as "RAW." The third was recognized as the NTFS drive it is supposed to be and is fully accessible. Go figure...

Just a shot in the dark. Is this an NTFS drive? If so, the drive might be showing as "Foriegn" in the disk management applet. Simply importing the foriegn disk should bring it up.

Dont know if this helps but I had the same problem on WinXP Pro. Drive was showing as RAW and getting error "drive is corrupted or unreadable".
I slaved the HDD onto another PC (using the CD ROM drive) and ran chkdsk /f and this converted the file system back to NTFS.
Like I said I hope this helps. Maybe I was just lucky
