OK, I'll try and explain!!! Raster graphics are formats that pictures use like .bmp and .jpg. The images of a raster file use pixels, like on a TV screen, and depending on the size of the pictures there can be millions of pixels in one picture. For example, if there is a single straight line drawn in MS Paint, it will be made up of (for example) 500 pixels x 10 pixels, this means that the line is 500 pixels long and the width is 10 pixels on the screen. This line has no intelligence, ie, if you try and rotate the line like you do in ACAD, it would not move coz the pixels are NOT CONNECTED. Where the opposite to that is Vector, which ACAD does use for lines etc, so a vector line, is an intelligent line that is completely one object.
So hope that clears that bit up!!!
Now for Proxy Server, this is something that has nothing to do with ACAD, it runs on your local server, and basicaly will allow clients to use the internet over the network with out having a modem on each PC. So the server has a modem or TA (termaial adapter for ISDN high speed lines) which the Proxy Server uses to get access to the internet from the server, and then the Proxy shares the internet over the LAN (local area network)
for probably a better description, there is a site called
that will tell you anything about any computer related word or term you dont understand!! Jay~
