Hi Gurus -

I am setting up RAS on my home server (2003) -

I have a Demand-dial Router and am hoping to be able to go out to the internet and back in via VPN -

I can't get a connection to my ISP tho - if I go direct through the modem it is fine yet when I use the same IP,credentials etc with RAS I get no joy ....

Does this mean the ISP is not set up for this or am I missing something ?

thanx in advance

Sounds like you have misunderstood the VPN concept.
A VPN is a connection that is established between two end points over an untrusted network.

Thus, you cannot create a VPN tunnel between your home server and your ISP and then connect back into your network.

You need to connect to the Internet first. Then you can establish a VPN connection between two servers running RRAS for example or between your home server and a client PC connected to the Internet.

Read up on VPN's before attempting.

Thanks basst -

No I realise this ,maybe I worded it incorrectly ;@)

>>You need to connect to the Internet first.

This is what I am trying to via Demand Dial -

I will look at the link supplied anyway ....

cheers
