Random number generator used in game not working

I have a simple golf game that I produced in 1999 on my website at

I am redesigning the page to increase google adverts.
The new page is at

http://www.foreteevideo.co.uk/Masters1.html

I get an Error "ele[...] is null or not an object"
I am not sure how to interpret this and would appreciate any advise as to why one version works and the other does not.

I have managed to resolve the problem.
There seems to be a conflict between the javascript code and a PayPal button. So I have deleted the PayPal button.
