I understand that the disks need to be made dynamic before creating a mirror.
My question is:does the second drive or destination drive for the mirror need to be formatted first or can it be unformatted.
Thanks

Are you doing hardware or software RAID? You'd probably be better off doing hardware RAID if your server supports it

Thanks for response. It will be software raid in this case

The drive MUST NOT be formatted or even partitioned. If it is, it won't let you create the mirror.

I recommend redoing this with hardware RAID. Dynamic Disks can be a nightmare to deal with and once you convert, you cannot revert back (without SERIOUS headaches, and then only MAYBE).

I agree with Lee. Hardware RAID is the ideal way to go for RAID.
