I want to move my server edition R8.1 to an R9 virtual environment. I cant find anything on the knowledge base with the procedure. The biggest question I have is how the licenses will move? If someone knows where this info is at in the Knowledge base let me know.

Thank you all.

The virtual licence is a different one to the standard server edition licence, don't think you can just change it :)

Right, I don't see a upgrade to R9 virtual server edition license.

You won't, its not an upgrade. The virtual will have a different System ID, so you will need new licenses. I don't know what process Avaya have for swapping SE licenses.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

FFrey, there is a path for going from an IP500v2 to a server edition.
But i never heard of this step you want to take :)
As mentioned, the server edition licenses are different for hardware and software versions.
I think you better contact Avaya for this.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

There is a migration process from 8.1 Server Edition to 9.0 virtual Server Edition. You have to buy a new virtual Server Edition license and swap the existing licenses to the new system ID.

It is important to install virtual primary server first via OVA file and set IP addresses, host name and time zone. The virtual server SID depends on these settings and will change if you change one of these values.

Then you can get the SID of the virtual server and can start the swap process.

When you get the licenses you can start to migrate you existing systems.

You can start the initial setup for the expansion systems again but I'm not sure which settings will be kept and which settings will be deleted. You also can change the needed settings (license server, SCN trunk, directory etc) manually.
