Piece of cake as long as your ready with your license file and you checked of dadmin on features or you will be on the outside unable to look in. Also dont be worried if call processing doesnt work. before you put the license file in just happens that way sometimes allthough its not supposed to. Also i find the best way to install the license file is straight from RFA. GL
None of our hardphones worked after the upgrade. R8 had a few different IP RTU bundles. The one we got included 30 RTU for hard and/or soft phones and/or IP trunks (any simultaneous combo adding up to 30). R9.5+ requires each specific type of device to be licensed individually. Long story short, Avaya didn't give us anything and it took them close to a week to get it straight and determine we were entitled to the software. Make sure you print all of your list configs, disp capacity, and disp system-param customer options screens prior to the upgrade. Go over the license file and make sure you have everything you're entitled to. It's more automated after R9.5 but from R8 it seems to be more of a matter of what Avaya's records reflect rather than what you actually have. We all know how good Avaya's records are!!!!!!! -CL
If you currently use a PI board for X.25 com links, make sure you completely remove all traces of these links before the upgrade otherwise software corruptions may happen.
Here is a short list of "gotcha's" that we have experienced:
1. Make sure to back up the translations (I would have 2 flashcards just in case)
2. Change System-Parameters Features and turn off TTI (If it's on)
3. Change System-Parameters Maintenance and disable alarm orginination.
4. Check with Avaya Tier III Support if you are installing the upgrade on a CMC (Wall Mount) Carrier. There was an issue pertaining to the devices that are hooked to the AUX Cable. We have be told by Avaya that the ONLY thing that should be hooked to the AUX Cable is the PFT (Power Fail Transfer) Panel. If an Attendant Console is installed on the AUX cable, remove it and power it with a stand alone -48vdc Avaya Power Supply.
5. If you are the person in charge of the Remote Feature Activation (RFA) File, make sure that the FEAT_SOFT option ASG is unchecked (Turned Off) and the Enable DADMIN Login (FEAT_DADMIN) is Checked (Turned On).
6. After the upgrade make sure to set the date and time and Turn back on any of the options you turned off. (TTI and Maintenance)
