I really need help with this feature. I recorded the DTMF * tone for about 650 milliseconds. It's announcement x2888. How do I program the vector to outpulse that DTMF tone and then the number that we are transfering to?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated; such as an example of a step by step vector setup :)

bump =) anyone with any experience with this?

I can't help you with your specific situation, however I do have experience with another carrier and a different switch. We had to record all the touch tones on the announcement and play back the announcment as our switch could not outpulse the DTMF. We also had to record the announcement by holding two handsets back to back, pressing touch-tones on one while the other was recording. This gave us the best quality touch-tones in the announcment.

The entire number needs to be recorded as a single announcement. For example, to use TnT to transfer the call to 800-555-1212, you would record the announcement as '*88005551212'. To record this use an analog phone with Console Permissions in the COS.

You can also record this via a modem by entering the commands into the dial string via something like hyperterm. This makes for a VERY clean recording. So the dial string would be:

FAC to record an announcement
"," for a pause
Announcement number
"," for a pause
1 to begin recording
"," for a pause
Qwest TnR command (*8)
"," for a pause
the TF number
"," for a pause
"#" to complete the recording.

It should look like this:
155,76006,*8,8005551212,#

It works like a charm for us.
Hope this helps,
Perry

Just out of curiousity, how do you dial out that number if it is in an announcement?

for example ..

the vector step would look like?

route to number 2888

2888 (recording of 9 (to dial out) * (to invoke TnR) 10 digit number )

doesn't that just play back the announcement? need lots of help as you can see.

You would not need to draw dial tone (i.e. the 9). Simply play the announcement and Qwest should be listening for the *8 tone. Once they hear this, the call will be taken away from the switch. As such, it will show in reporting as an abandoned call.

We would always play the announcment and then follow it up with the old fashion Route To command so that if the TnR failed, the call would still get routed to the proper location even if it had to be done via a route to command.

Still stumped - we finally cutover our circuits to new switch @ Qwest that has the TnR feature. 195 800#s later. It's working, but only in a manual sense. While on the call, you hit the star key for at least 650 milliseconds. You will hear a confirmation tone, and then you enter the destination number.

I created the announcement with the DTMF tones. How do I program the phone or what button do I use so that it will hit the vector with the announcement? I have the caller on the phone and I need to hear the * tone while I am on the same call. I tried setting up abbr-dial list, auto-dial, and I do not hear anything. ALso, is there a way to tone down the * tone, since it is 650 milliseconds, it can get quite annoying.

When will I ever get this to work????

If the caller is already on the line, they would need to transfer into a VDN/Vector that simply plays the announcement of *8 and then the destination number. The announcement is what's playing back the tones and what the carrier hears to re-route the call.

The vector is very simple:
01 wait 0 secs hearing silence
02 announcement 2888
03 stop

Or you can make 03 a backup and simply route to the number manually if the *8 does not work, however, I don't reccomend that until you get the vector working properly in the first place.

The reason most people use their modem to record the touch tones on the announcement is because the modem makes the clearest and loudest tones and has the best results.

You will need a different announcement for every different number that you want to route to because the annoncement will need the entire string of *8 and then number in it.

Sorry to keep asking about this. the problem is not recording the announcement with the DTMF tones. the problem is that when a caller calls in, we cannot hit transfer or hold or anything else. once that trunk is seized, while on the call we have to hit the "*" key for about 650 milliseconds. we have to do this while on the phone with the customer and the customer will hear that tone, then after that qwest returns 3 beeps that it has accepted it has a tnr call and then we can dial the 10 digit number to transfer too.

the question is = while i'm on the phone with the customer, how do i program a button to play back the "*" tone for 650 milliseconds? I tried autodial to the announcement but it just plays back the 4 digit extension. I also setup an abr-dial and it also just plays back the 4 digits?

is there a way to setup a button to play back the announcement while talking to the customer? this is very bizzarre ...
