When I boot up my computer, I get an error message saying that my "uhyywl.exe" file is missing. I am able to cancel out of this message and go on to use Windows 98 (my OP sys). Could someone please tell me what this file is and how I can remedy this problem? Thanks.

No, I have not heard of that one. I looked online, and all I found was a post from you on Computing.net! LOL
I would click start, run, type msconfig, click ok.
Disable all startup items and click okay. Let the computer restart.
If the error did not come up, then go back to msconfig and start enabling things until you narrow it down to one program. If it did not go away, then post back and we'll go from there.
Either way, I would run an anti-virus just to be safe!

Thaks for the idea. I'm out of town but will try this out when I get home this weekend. One other thing...I have Norton Systemworks 2002, and have run it. No viruses show up. However, for some reason Live Update does not run properly. It doesn't seem to be updating with new viruses. This problem seemed to have started about the same time the uhyywl.exe problem started. Could be a coincidence...??? Thanks for helping.

Several viruses will specifically target your anti-virus program to keep it from updating/scanning effectively. Some, like Klez, will even cause your anti-virus program to simply close after you have opened it. I would highly suspect a virus.
Part of the reason for thinking a virus is that they often generate a random filename once they are on your system. As a result, you could end up with a problem like yours--and you can't find a reference to the filename anywhere because it is essentially unique to your system.
Definitely check for virus, but you might need to do it with a third party scanner--I don't know any off the top of my head, but I'm sure that somebody will post one for you here (PLEASE?). Mudskipper

Yes, run a scan here:
My bet is you have the sub7 trojan but it might be some other one. Let us know the results. If that scan finds nothing then download and scan with Moosoft's Cleaner which is free to try. It's a trojan specific scanner. If the first scan finds sub7 then definately get Moosoft's Cleaner cause it'll probably remove the trojan for you.
