"The specified Domain either does not exist or could not be contacted" 1

Dear All,

Need some kind advise for the above mention error msg.
I am running on Windows Server 2003.

All my users have no problem logging on to the network.
When i log on as administrator, I try to change the users in the Computer Management-> Local users and Groups -> Groups -> ANY GROUP.

I can see my domain "abc.com.sg" in the look in combo box.
I can see all my users. BUT when i try to check name or add a user from my "abc.com.sg"

It pop an error box.
Title: Select Users or Groups
MSG: "Processing of Object user name failed with the following error: "The specified Domain either does not exist or could not be contacted"

The problem is I can see the user name in the list box, but when i try to add, I get the above error.

But my domain is windows 2003.
In my network property, i din set any WINS configuration.
I din add any wins server.

I think i solve the problem, dunno whether is the correct way?
I add my domain controller IP address in the DNS Setting.
This seems to solve the problem, is it the correct way?
I manage to add the users in the system.

Currently for my users, all DNS setting is only the ISP DNS Setting for surfing the internet.

That's how our server is setup. We have the IP and the loopback set in the DNS.

Do you use the server as the internal DNS server?
Security-wise you may want the client machines to all be forwarded through the server.

We use DHCP for both DNS and IP and then have the forwarders on the DNS server set to be the ISP's DNS servers.

Yes, the server (domain controller) is the internal DNS Server.

Ok, I understand what you mean, I dun have to set the DNS of my ISP in my client's system, only set the server IP, then my client will surf through my server. right ?

but server have to set the forward to the my ISP DNS right?

That's it. The server forwards requests to the ISP dns outside the firewall.
