Hi. I keep getting the above error when trying to run spell checker. I have access 97 with everything else office 2000, because all databases at work were done in access 97. I opened "add/remove" and checked "select all" under options for access, but still no spell checker. It works fine in Outlook2000 or Word 2000. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

i believe that reuqires a registry key to be present

go to regedit and see if u have a speller key under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\office\8.0\access

Thanks for your reply. I looked there in the registry and under "speller", there was:
(Default) Reg_Sz (value not set)
Language ID Reg_Dword 0x00000409(1033)

Do I need to change any of these? If so...how?

go to the speller key and go to edit, new, string value

call the new string value Speller

double click on the new entry Speller in the right pane and add the data value
1033\Normal

if that doesn't work than i dunno. if it doesn't work, might as well remove hte new entry.

Onedtent,

That didn't work. But what DID work (hopefully you get a laugh out of this!), was going into office tools/options on 97 and checking "spell checker"! LOL. Sorry, I thought I had checked that. Thanks for your help.
