"Open with" appears when opening external drive 1

Guys

My external hard drive will not open using double-click in My Computer, instead it brings up the "Open with" box. If I type the drive letter into the Address window, it opens ok.

Does anyone have any ideas why it has started doing this please?

Go to Regedit/HKEY-current-user/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/MountPoints2
Double click this key and you will see a list of all the network drives
Locate the drive that gives the error – for example the E: drive

This will be the only drive that has a sub-key called ‘Shell’
Delete this key and the problem will be resolved
