I have 2 Win2K machines that's been doing this. Everytime you browse directories, the "OPEN" window will stall for a good 20 seconds before it responds. Any clue what's causing it, or what the solution is?
I had a similar problem in the past and it was due to installing winzip across a network. Every time you went to open, windows looks for the programs to handle the right click menu stuff. As I had installed winzip across a network, it was looking for the machine I had installed it from. This caused a delay after selecting open, and if the machine that I installed it from wasn't connected - it often took about 40 seconds to come up with an open dialog.
So basically - try un-installing anything that has added something to the right click menus. Worth a try....
