"News Update" ????

Whilst running NT4, with office 2000, I seem to be forever having an application running on task manager called NEWS UPD..I cannot go any further, start any apps, close any boxes etc until I go into task manager and end "news upd".
Anyone know what this is, what it does and how I can get rid of it ??

It's spyware from Creative Labs and should be removed. See

The cexx site is very good for advice dealing with this sort of problem. I'd advise people to check it out and make sure their PCs aren't hosting any of these programs.

Thanks John, that article gives me a couple of different options and is a cure to my headache.. Just another 260 worstations accross the school to be visited now !!
