This is what I do when that happens - there may be a better way and I'm sure if there is then someone will tell us but in the meantime:
Log on to Processor A using Filezilla - go to /var/log then rm messages*.bz2
Log on to Processor B using Filezilla - go to /var/log then rm messages*.bz2
Lot on to Assistant IP address using Filezilla - go to /var/log then rm messages*.bz2
Verify that the /var position is not full with df -m
Log on to Processor A using Filezilla - go to /var/log then rm messages*.bz2
Log on to Processor B using Filezilla - go to /var/log then rm messages*.bz2
Lot on to Assistant IP address using Filezilla - go to /var/log then rm messages*.bz2
Verify that the /var position is not full with df -m
