"Everyone" has access to a shared calendar

We want to share a user's calendar in SBS 2003 Exchange, but at the moment, anybody can see that calendar by choosing to Open a Shared Calendar in their Outlook.

In AD, for this particular user, I note that Everyone has Read permissions set in Mailbox Rights. Whenever I try to remove Everyone, I am told that permissions are inherited, and uncheck the inherit permissions checkbox. However, there is no such checkbox. How can I remove Everyone?

I've tried ADMonitor.net, and it looked like it worked, but back in AD, Everyone still has Read permissions.

Am I going about this the wrong way? Our goal is to only have select users have access to this calendar.

Is this the only user that has these permissions set or does it affect other users in company, OU etc.

Try checking permissions at the Exchange organisational level itself rather than AD.

i.e. Right click the org name within ESM and look at the security tab. If you can't see the security tab do a search for ShowSecurityPage. I can never remember the HKCU key it goes under.

Thank you for your reply.

This happens for at least 2 users... that is, a user defined simply as a Domain User can access the calendars of 2 other users. (This is a small shop... less than 10 users.)

I had done the registry change of which you spoke, and security in ESM from the top-down looks "normal." The group EVERYONE has only minimal privleges all the way down (does not have Read permissons).

Newbie question: is there a specific folder for each mailbox, or is it all just stored in the Information Store?

Also, one of my original questions still stands: How can I disable "inheritable permissions" on a given mailbox?
