Hi all,

I have setup a IBM Cluster Server with a External SCSI Storage.

In my Cluster Administrator Groups, I have 3 items which are :
1) Cluster Group
2)Disk Group 1
3)Disk Group 2

Disk Group 2 is containing the Quorum.

I have tested by pluggin out the public NIC on Node 1. And I noticed all the resources from Node 1 failover to Node 2.
But except the Quorum still belong on Node 1. I have to maunally move the Quorum Disk Group over.

But when I tried to power down Node1, all the resources include Quorum will failover to Node2.

Any advices on why the Quorum unable to failover when Public NIC is not connected.

Million of thanks
RolKok

Thanks and Regards

Even with the somewhat kludgy "IBM clustering", and the downright flakey twintail driver, on a properly configured cluster the quorum drive should be accessible from both nodes. I'd start with the sytem log, then examinge the cluster logs for clues to why node 2 can't access the physical disk resource for the quorum drive. My guess would be that the TID doesn't match, or the semiphore is never released.

Microsoft recommends that the Cluster Group contains only core resources. The Quorum drive is considered a core resource and should be located in the Cluster Group along with Cluster Name and IP Address. You may try putting the Quorum drive in the Cluster Group.

Rolmank,

It happened to me when I installed the cluster without using the "cluster solution diskette" provided with the IBM RAID adapter. This disk contains a new dll file that makes cluster-aware the RAID controller and allows you to failover the disks between nodes.
Is this your case?
