Greetings,
In the summer of 2003, I encoded a Quicktime video/audio file on an OSX machine. When I tried to play it back in WinXP, I only had audio -- there was no video stream.
When I tried to play the file on an OS9 machine, I experienced the same problem -- only audio, no video.
So I tracked down another OSX machine, and I WAS able to see the video as well as hear the audio.
Now I am trying to play back the file on another (a third) OSX machine, and I am having the same problem I had with WinXP and OS9 -- I can only decode audio. QT does not even recognize that there IS a video stream.
I have three questions:
1) How do I determine the video CODEC used to encode a file, when Quicktime does not even recognize that there is a video stream? The various video-property fields are empty.
2) What is a good site for finding and downloading new codecs?
3) Where do I put a new codec when I get one? I am trying to play the file on both OS9 and OSX.
If you can think of anything else I should know, please do not hesitate to tell me.
Thanks in advance,
Ted
