Hi all.

I am doing a spreadsheet at work, and there is one particular column where i need to double the value that is curretntly in it.

It is a currency column, eg £2.50.

I have tried =(cell ref)*2 but that just doesn't work, but I know there must be a quick way thats so simple I have overlooked it lol.

TIA,

Chris.

Try that formula in a new column beside it. Otherwise you're probably getting circular references

Ah, of course, that's sorted it.

Thanks :)

Another way to do it is to have the value 2 in a cell somewhere, select that cell and do Edit/Copy (Ctrl-C). Then select the numbers you need to double and do Edit/Paste Special, tick Multiply (Radio button in the "Operation" section) and then click Ok.

Depending on your situation, this may or may not be quicker and simpler.
