ok I am pretty sure this is a no but I need for you all to verifiy?
once the password has been changed can they change it back to the old one?
I know the sytem will not let them but wondering if there is a way to get around that?
(it is for a CEO .... quess he does not have time to remember new passwords)

Where are you asking this for? Voicemail I assume. There is a setting in Meridian Mail that says how many times a password must change before it can be reused. This can be 1 to 99, I think. This is in the security settings area.

We have someone in that position, and all they do is go in and change the password over and over until the number of changes has been reached (5, 10 whatever the setting is). Then they change it back to the original. This is terrible for security, but it works for the CEO. (Our CEO is doing this now, or rather his secreatry is)

Hope this helps,

Scott M.

wouldn't it be eaiser to replace the ceo, good switchman are hard to find.. joking aside, try to avoid dropping security settings for voice mail, that is your number one soft spot for external toll fraud

that was funny I agree John I think they should replace the ceo seems my headache would go away!!
ok so is there away once setting him up with a new password to replace it with the old? I know we could go the hard way and keep changing it (o-99) till we get that option to replace with the old but any other faster way?

Once a password is changed, there is no way to re-instate the old without going through the change process.

Sorry,

Scott M.

ok here is what I am thinking if we change the (o-99) just to one she should be able to change it back to the old password in 24 hours? btw under security there no setting for times to change but there was a setting for days to change.

I believe your train of thought is correct. I do not think she needs to wait. The secretary that does it here just goes in and changes it over and over in one session.
